That double coat is a full-time commitment. This feeds it.
A Pomeranian is a Spitz in miniature, with a dense double coat that stands off the body and needs more support per kilo of dog than almost anything else in the range. The breed is also prone to alopecia X — a coat that thins over the flanks and doesn't come back — which makes coat nutrition more than cosmetic here.
EPA and DHA at 0.4% with borage oil support the skin barrier the coat grows from. Pentasodium triphosphate at 3.5 g/kg works against tartar in a jaw that gets dental disease early, glucosamine and chondroitin support a small frame with a real luxating-patella risk, and psyllium keeps digestion steady. Protein at 26% and fat at 16% suit a small dog whose exercise is enthusiastic but brief. For dogs from eight months.
Maize, dehydrated poultry protein, wheat flour, rice, wheat gluten, animal fats, hydrolysed animal proteins, chicory pulp, fish oil, minerals, soya oil, psyllium husks and seeds (0.5%), fructo-oligosaccharides, borage oil (0.1%), hydrolysed crustaceans (source of glucosamine), marigold extract (source of lutein), hydrolysed cartilage (source of chondroitin). Additives (per kg) — Nutritional additives: Vitamin A 29,500 IU · Vitamin D3 800 IU · Iron (3b103) 41 mg · Iodine (3b201, 3b202) 4.1 mg · Copper (3b405, 3b406) 13 mg · Manganese (3b502, 3b504) 54 mg · Zinc (3b603, 3b605, 3b606) 136 mg · Selenium (3b801, 3b811, 3b812) 0.09 mg. Technological additives: Clinoptilolite of sedimentary origin 10 g. Sensory additives: tea extract (source of polyphenols) 150 mg. Preservatives. Antioxidants.
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Brush her two or three times a week and far more when the undercoat blows — twice a year it comes out in handfuls. **Never shave a Pomeranian**; the double coat regulates her temperature and may not grow back properly, which is how a lot of alopecia X cases start. If the coat is thinning symmetrically over the flanks, that's a vet visit rather than a grooming problem.
