12% fat. The lowest in the breed range, and deliberately so.
Fat here is 12%, the lowest of any adult food in the breed range, and that single number is the point of the product. Miniature Schnauzers carry an inherited tendency to hyperlipidaemia — persistently high fats in the blood — which leads to pancreatitis, and diet is the main lever anyone has on it.
Protein at 25% and a controlled calorie level hold condition on a breed that gains weight readily. Pentasodium triphosphate at 3.5 g/kg works against tartar in a jaw that gets dental disease early, psyllium and chicory pulp keep digestion steady, and glucosamine and chondroitin support the joints. For dogs from ten months.
Rice, dehydrated poultry protein, maize, vegetable protein isolate (L.I.P. — protein selected for its very high digestibility), maize gluten, animal fats, hydrolysed animal proteins, minerals, chicory pulp, fish oil, vegetable fibres, fructo-oligo-saccharides, psyllium husks and seeds, soya oil, borage oil, hydrolysed crustaceans (source of glucosamine), marigold extract (source of lutein), hydrolysed cartilage (source of chondroitin). Additives (per kg) — Nutritional additives: Vitamin A 31,000 IU · Vitamin D3 800 IU · E1 (Iron) 46 mg · E2 (Iodine) 4.6 mg · E4 (Copper) 14 mg · E5 (Manganese) 59 mg · E6 (Zinc) 140 mg · E8 (Selenium) 0.08 mg. Technological additives: Clinoptilolite of sedimentary origin 10 g. Sensory additives: tea extract (source of polyphenols) 150 mg. Preservatives. Antioxidants.
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. **No fatty treats.** If she ever goes off her food, hunches her back, vomits repeatedly or seems tender in the belly, treat it as urgent — that is what pancreatitis looks like and it needs a vet the same day. Ask about a blood test for cholesterol and triglycerides at her annual check; it's cheap and it tells you whether the diet is holding.
