Eight is old for the paperwork, not for her. This bridges the two.
Eight is early to call a small dog senior and most owners don't recognise their dog in the description. She still wants the walk, still hears the lead. What has changed is underneath: the metabolism has slowed, muscle is quietly being traded for fat, and cells are taking more oxidative damage than they used to.
This holds protein at 27% to defend that muscle while keeping fat at 16% so the slower metabolism doesn't catch her out, with L-carnitine helping her burn what she does eat. Tea polyphenols at 150 mg/kg and borage oil back the antioxidant side, and marigold-derived lutein supports eyes and cells. Crude ash is lower than the adult food at 4.9%, which eases the mineral load on kidneys that have a few more years on them. For dogs eight and over with an adult weight between 1 and 10 kg.

Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Move her over around eight even if nothing seems different; the point is to get ahead of the changes rather than react to them. Keep walking her — shorter and more often suits an older dog better than one long outing. Yearly bloods from eight, and get her teeth looked at, because a sore mouth is the commonest reason an older small dog goes off her food.
