Settles a puppy's stomach while the rest of him grows.
Loose stools are the default state of a new puppy and most owners assume it's normal. It usually isn't — it's a gut that hasn't finished establishing itself being asked to process food it can't quite handle yet.
ActivBiome+ is Hill's prebiotic blend, and the approach is worth understanding: rather than adding bacteria, it feeds the ones already there, which is the method with the better evidence behind it. Around that sits proper growth nutrition — high-quality chicken protein for the muscle a medium-breed puppy lays down through his first year, DHA from fish oil for brain and eye development, and balanced calcium and phosphorus for bones and teeth that are still forming. Whole grains — brown rice, sorghum, barley and oats — replace some of the wheat that most puppy foods lean on. For medium breeds up to twelve months.
Chicken (17–21%, varies by breed size on the source listing), brown rice, maize gluten meal, whole grain maize, whole grain sorghum, dried beet pulp, barley, oats, chicken fat, dried tomato pomace, minerals, hydrolysed chicken liver, flaxseed, fish oil, coconut oil, dried citrus pulp, dried pumpkin, vitamins, and trace elements. Contains natural antioxidants (mixed tocopherols). ActivBiome+ prebiotic blend comprises the dried pumpkin, beet pulp and citrus pulp.
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Change over across ten days rather than seven — the point is not to upset a stomach that's already unsettled. Stools should firm up over two to three weeks; if diarrhoea persists beyond a few days, or there's blood in it, see a vet rather than changing food again. Three or four meals a day under four months, then three. Fresh water, always.

Keyed to age as well as weight — use the age band, not just the scale. Split across three or four meals while he's small, then two. Pregnant and nursing bitches use the same amounts as the under-4-months column. Fresh water, always.
