Small breeds live long enough that seven barely feels old — a terrier at seven still behaves like a much younger dog, right up until the morning he doesn't.
This is the food to move him onto before the change is obvious. High-quality protein at 18.2% maintains the lean muscle that gets harder to hold with every year, and omega-3 and omega-6 at 0.23% and 3.62% work on a coat that's started to look tired. Brown rice, barley and oats sit gently on a digestive system that's grown less forgiving, and clinically proven antioxidants support ageing immunity. Kibble stays small-breed sized, which matters more now than it did at two — dental disease is close to universal in small dogs by this age. For small and mini breeds aged seven and over, up to 10 kg fully grown.

Looking after it
Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Weigh the portion — on a 5 kg dog an eyeballed scoop is easily 20% out, and that adds up fast at this age. If his breath has turned or he's chewing on one side, book a dental check; small breeds almost all need one by seven. Fresh water, always.
