Dental disease is the most common health problem in adult cats and almost nobody catches it early, because a cat with a sore mouth carries on eating and gives you nothing to go on. By the time there's obvious bad breath or a cat pawing at her face, it's usually well established.

The kibble here is shaped and textured so that her tooth sinks into it rather than shattering it — the biscuit stays intact for a moment and wipes the tooth surface on the way through, which is where the "brushing effect" comes from. That mechanical scrubbing is what reduces plaque and tartar; a normal kibble crumbles on contact and does almost nothing. The mineral blend is balanced to support teeth and gums, and the rest is a complete, balanced adult food, so it's a daily diet rather than a supplement.

Looking after it

Store in a cool, dry place, sealed. Use within six weeks of opening. Feed it dry and whole — soaking or crushing the kibble removes the entire point of it. This helps prevent build-up; it won't remove tartar that's already there, so get existing build-up dealt with by your vet first and then use this to hold the line. Have her mouth checked annually. Fresh water, always.
