Looking after it

Serve at room temperature — warming it slightly lifts the smell, which is most of what gets a very old cat to the bowl. Cover and refrigerate leftovers and use within 24 hours. Weight loss at this age is not something to feed through: it's often the first sign of kidney disease or an overactive thyroid, both common and both manageable if caught. If she's losing condition, see a vet. Fresh water in more than one place, always.
