100% chicken, with added taurine. No veg, no grain, no filler.
Cats are obligate carnivores — they need meat in a way dogs don't — and Raw Love's cat meals are **100% meat**, with no vegetables, no grain and nothing added for bulk.
Free-range chicken necks, meaty carcasses, fillet and thigh trimmings, hearts, wingtips and liver, with finely minced raw bone running through it — that's where the calcium comes from, and it's meant to be there. On a dry-matter basis it's 64% protein at 38% fat, the richest of the three cat meals.
Taurine is added on top of what's naturally in the organ meat, because a cat who runs short of it goes blind and develops heart disease, and unlike most animals she can't make her own. Kefir, kelp, unfiltered apple cider vinegar and diatomaceous earth round it out.
**This is a complementary food, not a complete one.** Raw Love register every meal as complementary under Act 36 of 1947 — a deliberate choice on their part, not an oversight. It means it is not formulated to meet all of your pet's needs on its own, and fed as the only thing in the bowl over months it will leave gaps.
Raw Love's own guidance is to feed variety across the proteins, add an omega-3 source — they recommend fish at least once a week, since a raw diet is typically short of it — and give raw meaty bones weekly. Do that and it works well. Feed one flavour on its own and nothing else, and it won't. If you're new to raw, talk to us or your vet about building the rest of the diet around it.
100% chicken meat. Free-range chicken necks, meaty carcasses, fillet & thigh trimmings, hearts, wingtips, liver, unfiltered apple cider vinegar, kefir, diatomaceous earth, kelp, taurine. Registered as a **complementary** meal with the Department of Agriculture under Act 36 of 1947 — Reg. No. 25719.
Keep it frozen. Take out what you need the night before and let it thaw naturally in the fridge — **never microwave it, and never thaw cat meals in hot water.** Seal and refrigerate between servings, and **do not re-freeze**: it isn't cooked, and thawing twice spoils it. Leave the plate down about half an hour for a fussy eater, then refrigerate and offer again at the next meal. Wash your hands and the bowl after every feed, and don't leave leftovers standing where children or pests can reach them. Colour, texture and fat content vary between batches — that's normal in raw food, not a fault. Cats are less forgiving than dogs about freshness — they won't touch food that's been standing, so serve small and refrigerate the rest immediately. Chicken and duck meals contain finely minced raw bone, which is where the calcium comes from; it isn't a fault.
